IPL Auction 2024 LIVE Updates: Full list of sold and unsold players; Mitchell Starc becomes most expensive player ever, goes to KKR for 24.75 crore

The IPL 2024 Player Auction, being held overseas for the first time, is seeing 332 hopeful cricketers attracting bids for a maximum of 77 slots at the Coca Cola Arena in Dubai. Additionally, this is the first time that fans are watching the event live from the stands.

Australia’s Mitchell Starc became the most expensive player ever to be sold at the IPL Auction when the Kolkata Knight Riders acquired the pacer’s services for 24.75 crore.
World Cup-winning captain Pat Cummins fetched the second-best bid, going to Sunrisers Hyderabad for 20.50 crore. Archrivals Chennai Super Kings and Mumbai Indians initially got into a tussle for Cummins before the Royal Challengers Bangalore and SRH swooped in with their respective bids.

SRH also got Cummins’ compatriot and Player of the Match of the 2023 World Cup final, Travis Head, for 6.80 crore. The side also sensationally bagged Sri Lanka all-rounder Wanindu Hasaranga for his base price of 1.50 crore.

On Wednesday, Rovman Powell was the first player to go up for sale from the capped batters’ set. After an intense bidding war between the Rajasthan Royals and KKR, the Sanju Samson-led side got the West Indies batter for 7.40 crore.

Chennai Super Kings’ first buy came in the shape of Rachin Ravindra for 1.80 crore rupees. Also, Shardul Thakur’s homecoming to Chepauk was greeted with loud cheers.

The next set up for sale will be that of uncapped wicketkeepers after a 10-minute break.
